A Brooklynite, AJ was born into a family hairdressing business, making her first foray into the salon as her mother’s assistant when she was ten years old. Later, AJ completed college, started a family, and became a makeup artist, working on film sets and fashion shows. But the bug of the hair salon wouldn’t go away. AJ went to cosmetology school, graduated top of the class and, having seen ARROJO at the IBS show, decided it was the place to be. AJ is a skillful, creative colorist who uses her background in makeup to formulate tones that complement each individual’s features. “I love enriching color and texture by bringing a clients vision for their hair to life. Color creates positive change in the way people look and feel,” she says.
