The latest collection from ARROJO blends trailblazing hair coloring techniques, signature hair cuts, inventive product usage, distorted and surreal visuals to recreate the psychedelic experience with chromatic artistry.
Influenced by Keith Haring and the purveyors of the modern visual language, Creative Director Lina Arrojo uses the intensity of the colors of sugared candy to create an eclectic and stylish collection.
“This year’s Manux x Machina themed Met Gala confirmed that current trends are showing the connection between fashion and technology,” says Lina. “Meanwhile, there is a resurgence of psychedelia. This collection uses latest hairdressing technologies, like air brushed color, to pull these concepts together in swirling abstract patterns. These models are our own bionic babes.”
Noticeably the hair cuts come in classic shapes –– bobs and crops and pixies –– with the pioneering art of air brushed color, which uses compressed air to apply tones in tailored gradients, employed to create intense and illuminated hair colors as vivid as they are picturesque.
Completing the hairstyles, each look is heavily stylized with liberal product usage to build up the shape with shine and body, and show how one hairstyle can look very different when product and styling are used in inventive and original ways. “It’s how one might wear their hair when going to the club –– eclectic, stylized, edgy, purposeful,” adds Lina.
After the images were realized, illustrator Mallory Heyer added the colorful and carefully placed doodle-inspired artwork to enhance visual interest and communication while keeping close to the psychedelic inspiration of the collection.
