Opened in 2010, Hairpins is a boutique salon in the heart of downtown Kansas City, MO. Owned by Lauren Euston, the prestigious salon boasts a team of top-class hairdressing artists who have credits for major fashion shows, ad campaigns, editorial magazines, and television. Since joining the ARROJO Ambassador Program early in 2015, they’ve enjoyed continued growth, born out of their commitment to embrace our culture, not just the product line. With many of the team coming to NYC for our upcoming Expo, we decided it was time to catch up with Lauren for our weekly salon feature. . .
How many stylists do you currently employ?
Hairpins is a boutique salon in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City, Missouri. We have 5 chairs and 5 stylists that are dedicated to education and advancing our craft. The stylist are renters, yet we function more as a collaborative than a traditional booth rental salon. We work as a team and enjoy the rewards.
How many years have you been in business?
The space we are in has been a salon for 25 years. I have owned and operated Hairpins for the past 3 years. It has been a fun redesign the space to accommodate us in our desire to maintain history and modernity.
What has been your greatest achievement within your business?
Maintaining a philosophy of individualistic unity within the salon has been my greatest achievement at Hairpins. We work well together because of the dynamic that exists between the stylists. Each stylist that commits to Hairpins agrees to work in a collaborative environment as they are essentially running their own business within a business. I believe in giving a stylist the ability to succeed through providing an amazing space and encouraging advanced training and education, alongside discussing our individual achievements and failures and learning from them.
What has been your most exciting time as an ARROJO Ambassador Salon?
We will so excited to be attending Expo in late October. We have one stylist going to hairpainting, and one to the business course. It’s another chance to get connected to the culture at ARROJO and using it to light our own creative spark.
Anything else you feel is valuable that you would like to include?
We have loved our first 6 months with ARROJO! The products have been a fantastic replacement for Bumble and Bumble. We love that they are easy to sell thanks to how well they perform. Our blowouts look and feel great and last for a few days. The education offered is amazing and exciting and we are thrilled to be a part of it.
